Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Awake ("Awake," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Awake iOS application, the awakeapp.net website, and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Data controller
Awake is the data controller for personal information processed through the Service. For privacy requests, data access requests, or other questions about this policy, contact info@awakeapp.net.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we may notify you by updating this page, updating the "Last updated" date, sending an email if you have joined our waitlist or contacted us, or providing in-app notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
Information we collect
1. Information you provide directly
We may collect information you provide directly to us, including your name, email address, profile details, support messages, custom feature requests, waitlist submissions, preorder inquiries, and any other information you choose to send us.
If you choose to sign in with Apple or use other account-related features available in the app, we may process account identity details such as your Apple sign-in identifier, display name, and email address made available through that flow.
2. Alarm, mission, and productivity data
Awake is built around alarms, countdowns, Pomodoro sessions, app blocking, screen time controls, custom sounds, habits, and wake-up interactions. To provide those features, we may process alarm schedules, timer settings, repeat rules, mission selections, completion status, streaks, habit activity, app-blocking session data, screen time-related configuration, and related usage records.
3. Automatically collected usage data
When you use the Service, we may automatically collect technical and diagnostic information such as device type, device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, crash logs, performance data, approximate usage timestamps, and general product interaction data.
4. Permission-based data
Awake requests certain iOS permissions only when they are needed for features you choose to use. Depending on your settings and usage, these may include:
- Notifications and alarms to schedule and deliver alarms, countdown alerts, timer alerts, reminders, and mission warnings.
- Screen Time / Family Controls to let you select, block, or limit distracting apps and app categories during focus, lock, or alarm-related sessions.
- Motion & Fitness for wake-up and accountability missions that depend on movement or physical activity.
- Camera for missions that may require scanning, object capture, photo proof, or other camera-based dismissal actions.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition for spoken prompts, voice-based actions, or alarm dismissal flows that depend on audio input.
- Photo Library if you choose to use personal media in a feature, such as profile setup or mission customization.
- Apple Music or audio access if you choose custom sounds or personal audio for alarm playback.
- Health data if you enable supported sleep or recovery-related features that use health-related context. Based on your enabled features, this may include read-only access to data such as steps, walking or running distance, cycling distance, standing time, water intake, sleep data, and mindful session data.
Some of these features rely on Apple frameworks designed to keep sensitive selections or health-related information on your device. Where processing can remain local to your device, we aim to use that approach.
Where HealthKit access is used, Awake is designed around read-only access for supported categories so the app can reflect your health and habit progress without writing health records on your behalf.
5. Website and communication data
When you use the awakeapp.net website, we may receive browser, device, referral, and interaction data and information you submit through contact, waitlist, or preorder forms. We may also use cookies or similar technologies that are reasonably necessary for website functionality, analytics, performance monitoring, and basic security.
How we use information
We may use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Power alarms, countdowns, Pomodoro sessions, habits, app blocking, screen time controls, custom sounds, and mission flows.
- Send onboarding, launch, waitlist, preorder, and product update communications you request.
- Respond to support requests, bug reports, and custom feature inquiries.
- Monitor usage trends, diagnose crashes, detect abuse, and improve product performance and reliability.
- Enforce our Terms & Conditions and protect the Service, our users, and our business.
- Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.
Legal bases for processing
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing, we generally process personal information because it is necessary to provide the Service, because you consented to the processing, because we have a legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service, or because we are required to do so by law.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- With service providers that help us operate the Service, such as hosting, analytics, diagnostics, customer support, email delivery, and infrastructure vendors.
- With Apple when you use App Store purchases, subscriptions, notifications, or other Apple platform features.
- When required by law, legal process, or a valid government request.
- To protect rights, safety, security, users, or the integrity of the Service.
- In connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
Subscriptions and payments
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not store your full payment card details. Apple handles billing, payment processing, renewal, and refunds according to its own terms and privacy practices.
Early Adopter pre-launch payments are processed by Stripe. When you use Stripe Checkout, Stripe collects and processes your payment and transaction information under its own privacy policy. Awake does not receive or store your full payment card number. We may receive limited purchase information, such as your email address, payment status, and transaction reference, to provide Early Adopter access, respond to refund requests, and maintain business records.
Email delivery and pre-launch communications
If you join the waitlist, start an Early Adopter checkout, or send a feature request, we use your submitted contact information to send requested launch, beta, purchase, and support communications. We may use an email delivery service provider to deliver and manage those messages. You can ask us to stop non-essential launch updates at any time by contacting info@awakeapp.net.
Retention of data
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Service, maintain business and legal records, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Some information, such as alarm configurations, mission settings, screen time selections, or other device-based settings, may remain on your device until you remove them, reset the app, or uninstall it.
If you use account features in the app, the current in-app delete account flow may sign you out and clear local account identity from that device. If you need help with a broader deletion request, contact info@awakeapp.net.
International data transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you live. Where required by applicable law, we take reasonable steps intended to ensure appropriate safeguards apply to those transfers.
Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, and we cannot promise that information will always remain completely secure.
Children's privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at info@awakeapp.net and we will investigate and, where appropriate, delete the information.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection to certain processing. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, and users in the EEA or UK may have additional rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@awakeapp.net.
If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe our processing of your personal information violates applicable law.
To protect your privacy and security, we may ask you to verify your identity before responding to certain access, correction, deletion, or portability requests.
California privacy disclosures
If you are a California resident, you may have the right to request information about the categories of personal information we collect, the sources of that information, the business purposes for using it, and the categories of third parties with whom we disclose it. You may also request deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions, and you have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Awake does not sell personal information for money. To submit a California privacy request, contact info@awakeapp.net.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. Because there is no consistent industry standard for responding to these signals, the awakeapp.net website may not respond differently when a Do Not Track signal is sent.
Deleting your data
You may be able to remove certain data directly from the app by deleting alarms, habits, mission settings, or app configurations. If you want us to review or delete personal information associated with support, waitlist, preorder, or account-related records, contact us at info@awakeapp.net.
Third-party services
The Service may link to or rely on third-party services, websites, SDKs, and platform providers. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
